Arrest after victim slashed across the cheek in Nottingham car park incident

Detectives are questioning a man in connection with a serious assault which left the victim with a deep cut to his cheek.

The victim’s face was slashed during an incident which is believed to have happened in a car park in Alfreton Road, between the Tesco Express and KFC, at around 3.30pm on Sunday (16 May 2021).

The victim, who was attacked with an unknown weapon, was taken to hospital and needed surgery for his injury.

After extensive enquiries, detectives arrested a 27-year-old man on Monday afternoon (17 May 2021) on suspicion of wounding with intent. He remains in custody.

Detective sergeant Chris Berryman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a nasty incident which left the victim with significant facial wounds.

“We’ve been working at great pace since the report came in to establish the circumstances of this isolated incident and I’m pleased that we’ve now arrested a suspect in connection with it.

“I’d like to reassure the public that we treat incidents of violence extremely seriously and we are continuing to make progress with our investigation.

“While we have made an arrest, I would urge anyone who saw what happened or any drivers who may have captured dash-cam footage of the incident to please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 458 of 16 May 2021, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
