Arrest after video of Nottinghamshire assault shared on social media

Two suspects have been arrested after a video was shared on social media of a man being assaulted in Mansfield.

The victim was lying in a doorway in Leeming Street, Mansfield, when he was attacked in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

A video was later shared on social media purporting to show the assault.

Two men, aged 23 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of assault yesterday and have been released on police bail.

The victim was later identified and was not seriously hurt.

Inspector Kylie Davies, district commander for Mansfield, said: “This was a shocking and senseless incident that has understandably caused a great deal of concern.

“After this video came to light, we moved quickly to identify suspects and bring them into custody.

“We were also able to identity the victim and will work with local partners to ensure he gets the ongoing help and support he needs.”
