Man arrested after threatening woman and her son with a shotgun.
A man was arrested after he allegedly brandished a shotgun and threatened a woman and her son following an argument.
Police were to called to an address in The Park, in North Muskham, near Newark, after a report the man had been drinking heavily and had threatened to kill the woman and her adult son in the early hours of Tuesday (14 December).
Officers were made aware of the alleged incident later in the day and attended the address. A 58-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.
A warrant to search the property was obtained and four licensed shotguns were seized, along with approximately 2,500 rounds of ammunition.
Detective Sergeant Tom Carver, of Nottinghamshire Police’s public protection team, said: “Anyone who makes violent threats towards another person with a firearm can expect a robust response from police – and that is what happened in this case.
“We understand incidents of this nature will cause concern but the suspect in this case is known to the victims and we are satisfied there was no wider threat to the local community.”
