A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a man was found collapsed in Nottingham city centre on Wednesday evening.
Officers arrived in Lister Gate at around 6.30pm on Wednesday 24 June and man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
A 48-year-old man was arrested at an address in Victoria Avenue, Sneinton as part of detectives’ enquiries, at around 3pm on Thursday 25 June and has been released on police bail.
Detective Inspector Gareth Harding from Nottinghamshire Police said: “We are still investigating what the cause of this man’s collapse but have reason to believe he was the victim of an assault much earlier in day.
“We do not know, however, whether this earlier assault led to his later collapse and are still liaising with at the Queen’s Medical Centre to work out why he became ill. We believe the assault happened within an address in the City and not in the city centre where he was found later”.
