Detective Inspector Gareth Harding from Nottinghamshire Police said: “We are still investigating what the cause of this man’s collapse but have reason to believe he was the victim of an assault much earlier in day.

“We do not know, however, whether this earlier assault led to his later collapse and are still liaising with at the Queen’s Medical Centre to work out why he became ill. We believe the assault happened within an address in the City and not in the city centre where he was found later”.
