Men arrested in Nottinghamshire after reports of sexual communications with children

Police in Nottinghamshire have arrested two men on suspicion of engaging in sexual communication with children in two separate investigations.

Officers were called to an address in Newark, shortly after 8.30pm on Sunday 8 May after receiving intelligence reports.

A 66-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempting to cause or incite a girl to engage in sexual activity.

He has since been bailed with conditions pending further enquiries.

Police also arrested a 57-year-old man on Sunday (8 May), at around 8.30pm, in Sherwood, on suspicion of engaging in sexual communication with a child.

He has also been bailed with conditions as police carry out further investigations.

A number of devices were also seized in relation to both investigations.

Detective Sergeant Lloyd Goucher, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Information from the public is vital in tackling sexual offences and domestic abuse cases and we take any reports of this nature extremely seriously.

“Enquires are ongoing into both of these incidents.

“I would urge anyone affected by sexual abuse to contact the police by calling 101, and would like to assure anyone who reaches out that they will be treated seriously, sensitively and professionally.”
