Arrest on suspicion of drink-driving after car crashes into wall

A man has been arrested after a car crashed into a garden wall.

Officers were called Moorbridge Lane, Stapleford, after the collision was heard by residents.

Damage is reported to have been caused to the car and the garden wall and work is ongoing to assess any damage to the rest of the property.

Shortly after the incident, just before 9.45pm on Thursday (10 February 2022), a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and driving without due care and attention.

He has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue. No serious injuries were reported.

Sergeant Howard Kirkland, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The actions of the driver could have had devastating consequences and it is extremely fortunate that no one was seriously hurt.

“Emergency services were quick to attend the scene and a man was arrested shortly after.

“The safety of people across Nottinghamshire, including users of our roads, is our priority and we hope this swift action shows just how seriously this kind of behaviour is taken. Our investigation now continues and officers are making further enquiries.

“We would now urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dash-cam footage, to get in touch with Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 804 of 10 February 2022.”
