Two men has been arrested after Nottinghamshire Police received a reports of the suspects acting inappropriately towards young teenage girls.
Officers were called to Trinity Square in the city centre at around 5pm on Friday after reports that two men had approach a group of young girls and allegedly made comments.
The men were quickly arrested by officers and it was later discovered that they allegedly had possession of a knife in a public place.
The men aged 23 and 18 were arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article, meanwhile the older man was also arrested on suspicion of sexual touching.
Inspector Jamie Hill of Nottinghamshire Police said: “The force takes reports of knife crime very seriously and will always look to take appropriate action against offenders.
“Thankfully no-one was seriously injured in this incident but whenever there is a knife involved, there is always the potential for far more serious consequences.
“These reports have been taken very seriously as it’s completely unacceptable to target and approach young girls in this way.
“Officers were quick to locate two men who matched the description given to police and we were able to make the arrests.
“Our investigation is ongoing and as we continue to carry out our enquiries, we ask anyone with any information to get in touch with us.”
