Police on patrol were flagged down by a burglary victim who said he had just had to pay to get his bike back after being burgled – two men have been arrested.
Officers were travelling down Nottingham Road in Sherwood Rise when they were flagged down by the victim who told officers he had ran after the men after seeing them take his bike from inside his block of flats nearby and he had had to give the men money to retrieve it.
Two men, both aged 27, were arrested an hour after the incident at around 1.10am this morning.
Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas, of Nottinghamshire’s criminal investigation department, said: “Our policing teams patrol the streets 24-7 keeping an eye out for anything suspicious and to act on behalf of anyone who needs assistance.
“The operational support and response team’s thorough patrolling and tenacity resulted in two men being arrested on suspicion of burglary. The bike had been recovered by the victim after he allegedly handed over £70 to the offenders.
“We are supporting the victim and carrying out all the relevant enquiries to establish the full circumstances behind what happened.”
