Two suspects were arrested after police tracked down a stolen car.

Officers spotted the car parked in Mansfield Road, Sherwood, at around 2.10am this morning (Sunday) and boxed it in.

Two men, aged 26 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft. The older man was also detained on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs.

Both remain in police custody.

Sergeant Laura McCullough, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was excellent proactive police work from officers who first spotted the car and then worked as a team to recover it.

“When vehicles are stolen their details are taken and constantly cross-referenced with recorded movement on our network of automatic number-plate recognition cameras.

“This information helps officers to identify the location of the vehicle and to swiftly arrest those we believe to be involved in vehicle crime.

“I hope this sends a clear message that vehicle crime will not be tolerated in Nottinghamshire
