Arrests after man threatened at knifepoint in his Nottingham home

Police were quick to make arrests after a man was reported to have been threatened at knifepoint in a break-in.

Officers were called to Harkstead Road in Bestwood at around 4am yesterday morning (Tuesday 18 May 2021) after a group of men were reported to have broken into a house.

It is alleged that the men threatened a man inside the property at knifepoint and stole a sum of cash.

Police were quick to arrive at the scene and arrested two men, both age 19, on suspicion of aggravated burglary in connection with the incident.

No is reported to have been injured.

Detectives have launched an investigation and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed something suspicious in the area to come forward.

Detective Segreant Nigel Malik, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers did an excellent job to quickly arrive on the scene and make two arrests as part of their enquiries into this incident.

“While we are pleased to have detained two suspects, our investigation remains in its early stages and we are working hard to establish what happened.

“Obviously reports of this nature are concerning for the public but we believed that this was an isolated incident and that those involved are known to one another.

“I am now appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard something suspicious in the area at the time to come forward as soon as possible.”

Anyone with any information on the incident is encouraged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 63 of 18 May 2021.

The men arrested have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
