Arrests after reports of gunshots fired in Nottingham

Two men have been arrested in connection with a report of a firearm discharge in Nottingham.

Officers were called at 8pm yesterday (Friday 11 January 2019) following a disturbance in The Wells Road, St Ann’s.

It was reported that a firearm had been discharged.

Officers attended and began a search of the area. Enquiries have been ongoing again this morning.

Two men, aged 25 and 26, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

No injuries have been reported and an investigation has been launched.

A police spokesperson said: “At this stage we are carrying out a number of enquiries, speaking to local people and viewing CCTV. There are two people in custody who we will be speaking to today. Gun crime is not welcome in Nottinghamshire, and we continue to do everything we can to prevent, disrupt, and arrest those responsible for committing offences of this nature here.”
