Police arrested three suspects after taking positive action following a spate of thefts of Mercedes Sprinter vans from the Nottingham area.
During the early hours of today officers spotted a car heading along Radford Boulevard which was suspected to be linked to the theft of a number of vans reported stolen between 31 August and 1 October.
Officers followed the car before it came to a stop in Lenton. The driver and a passenger were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to steal motor vehicles. A third suspect was also arrested at a nearby property on suspicion of the same offence.
Detective Sergeant Chris Berryman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing in relation to these thefts but I’m pleased tha we have been able to make these three arrests thanks to some good police work as we continue with our investigation.
“Following these reported thefts we’re urging van owners to remain vigilant and to consider the security of their vehicles and any items kept inside to prevent themselves from becoming a victim.
“We’re also asking members of the public to report any suspicious activity to us by calling Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or, if the crime is in progress, call 999.”
