Five people have been arrested following a street fight where officers seized hammers, a machete and a spirit level.
Officers detained four men and a boy at the scene after witnesses called to report that they’d seen several people hitting each other with the weapons.
One man was taken to hospital with head injuries which aren’t thought to be life altering. He has since been discharged and has been taken into custody.
Four men aged 41, 35, 32 and 26 were all arrested on suspicion of affray while a 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the same offence as well as possession with intent to supply.
Detective Sergeant Louise Bradford is leading on the investigation. She said: “This was a violent incident with weapons in the street which saw one man needing hospital treatment.
“Response were instantly on scene after we received the report at around 1.30pm on Thursday in Colwick Road, Sneinton to detain five people in connection with the incident. They all remain in police custody while our enquiries continue.
“Police patrols were increased overnight and will remain in the area to offer community reassurance.
“Our investigation is in its early stages so we are appealing for any information.
