Arrests after street fight with baseball bats and knives in Nottingham

Police investigating a street fight involving baseball bats and a knife have arrested two suspects.

Nottinghamshire Police was called to Newlyn Drive in Leen Valley at around 2.30pm on Thursday (8 July) after it was reported four people were fighting.

Officers arrived at the scene and made enquiries, arresting a man and a boy, aged 19 and 15 on suspicion of affray in connection with the incident.

It is believed that no one was injured, however, police are working hard to establish the circumstances.

The two suspects remain in custody for questioning and officers are now calling for anyone who may have any information to come forward.

Sergeant Catherine Edwards, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We take reports of violence very seriously and will always look to investigate incidents with the view of taking appropriate action against offenders.

“Thankfully, no one appears to have been injured in the incident but we are working hard to find out what happened.

“I’d now appeal for anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area at the time to come forward with any information they have.

“If you saw something, please report it to Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 447 of 8 July 2021.”
