Arrests after suspected Class A drugs found following car stop

A suspect has been arrested after police pulled over a car and discovered drugs inside it.

Officers stopped the car in Southwell Road West, Blidworth, after it was spotted speeding and cutting up another vehicle in nearby Blidworth Lane at around 9pm on Wednesday (31 August).

Three men were inside the car and the driver initially gave false details.

However, when officers carried out a search of the car they found a bag with suspected Class A drugs and drug paraphernalia.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a great bit of work by our officers which led to illegal drugs being seized.

“We are constantly on the lookout for vehicles we believe may be involved in crime and continue to work every day to ensure any people using our road network for criminal purposes are brought to account.

“I’m pleased these harmful drugs have now been taken off the streets and a suspect is in custody.

“Illegal drugs ruin lives and destroy communities. That’s why the force treats drug-related crime so seriously and continues to work tirelessly to crack down on this sort of offending.”
