Bank Holiday Monday attack outside Nottingham club leaves man unconscious

Police have arrested two suspects after a man was knocked unconscious during an assault outside a nightclub.

Officers were called to St James’s Street, Nottingham city centre, following the assault shortly after 4am on Monday (5 May).

CCTV shows the victim being repeatedly punched and kicked in the head by a small group.

The 22-year-old victim suffered a head injury and was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre to undergo tests. He has since been discharged.

A cordon was put in place while inquiries were carried out and two men aged 19 and 24 were later arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. They remain in custody.

Inquires to trace two further suspects are ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Alana Scott, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This incident left the victim needing hospital treatment and his injuries could easily have been worse.

“This type of behaviour will never be tolerated on our streets and we will always do everything we can to thoroughly investigate.

“This remains an ongoing investigation and I’d urge anyone with any information that may be helpful to us to come forward as soon as possible.”
