Bingham: Fire station warning to drivers not to park blocking fire engine exit

Water works are causing high traffic volumes in the centre of Bingham and around Long Acre in front of fire station on Friday 21 April.

This is due to the emergency closure of Newgate Street in Bingham for Severn Trent water works.

A spokesperson for Bingham Fire Station said:

‘We have noticed cars have been blocking the entrance to the fire station and stopping on the Keep Clear Yellow Zig Zag lines.

‘This could have a big impact on the fire engine responding to an emergency if the front of the station is blocked and we are unable to get out.

‘Yellow zig-zag lines outside schools, hospitals, or fire, police or ambulance stations indicate the length of road where stopping or waiting is strictly prohibited.

‘The Highway Code states that you should keep these areas clear of stationary vehicles.

‘So please try and keep the front of the Fire Station clear as you could slow the fire appliance responding to an emergency.’
