A 38-year-old man is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court next month after being charged following a collision on Tuesday.
Officers acted quickly to arrest two people in connection with a report of a crash involving a car, a pedestrian and a dog.
Police were called to Carnarvon Place, Bingham, at around 7am after a man and a dog has been injured in the collision.
The man remains in hospital for treatment of serious leg injuries, however they are not currently believed to be life-threatening.
The dog has been transferred to a specialist veterinary hosptial in Birmingham for treatment for life threatening injuries.
Andrew Pittman of Bingham has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving whilst under the influence of drugs and criminal damage (due to the collision with a dog).
Detective Sergeant Adam Cooper of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our officers acted to quickly to arrest two people in connection with this incident.
“A man has now been charged, and appeared before magistrates yesterday (23 September) where entered a guilty plea was entered.
“Pittman was remanded to custody ahead of a sentencing hearing 14 October at Nottingham Crown The second man was released under investigation.
“The road was closed while the officers conducted their enquiries and I thank residents for their patience.”
