The Co-op has served-up a new-look food store in Radcliffe-on-Trent following a £750,000 investment.
The store – located on Main Street – opened yesterday (Thursday, 16 May). It now opens between 6am – 11pm, seven days a week. It also brings a funding boost through the Co-op’s Membership scheme which sees Members receive a 5% reward on the purchase of own-brand products and services, with Co-op donating a further 1% to local causes.
Local causes currently benefiting from the scheme include: Radcliffe Methodist Youth Group; Radcliffe Olympic Football Club and the Radcliffe on Trent Infant and Nursery School.
Guests of honour included pupils from the nearby Radcliffe Infant and Nursery School, with seven year-old birthday boy, Austin, cutting the ribbon along with his classmates.
The store employs 19 people, and includes an in-store bakery and focus on fresh, healthy foods, food to go, meal ideas, award winning wines and, essentials.
The community retailer also offers a 10% discount to students holding the NUS extra (TOTUM) card to support them during their studies.
Robert Newton, Co-op Store Manager, said: “We have had a great response. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Radcliffe-on-Trent, the store has had a major makeover with floor to ceiling improvements including the latest in refrigeration, new tills and, enhanced back of shop to enable the store to better serve the community – this is a great way for the store to mark the Co-op’s 175th anniversary this year.”
