Appeal after man sustains bleed on the brain in Nottingham city assault

A man had to spend three days in hospital after an assault in Nottingham city centre left him with a bleed on the brain.

An investigation has been launched after the man was knocked unconscious in the attack, which is reported to have happened in Hampden Street in Nottingham city centre between 9pm and 10pm on Friday 7 May 2021.

It is believed that the victim suffered a blow to the head in the incident and detectives are working to establish the circumstances.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have seen something suspicious or witnessed the incident to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Louise Bradford of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Whenever someone is struck on the head, there is the potential for serious injury and in some cases, the consequences can be fatal.

“This assault left a young man in hospital with a bleed on the brain and while he is expected to make a full recovery, it is totally unacceptable that someone would do this to another person.

“We are now working hard to establish what happened and I’d encourage anyone who may have seen something to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with any information should contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 331 of 12 May 2021.
