Boy arrested after threatening people with a knife in Beeston

Officers quickly responded to a report of a boy threatening people at knifepoint.

Police were called to Newton Road in Beeston at around 3pm yesterday (Tuesday 1 June) after a boy punched someone inside a house and grabbed a kitchen knife.

The boy is then believed to have been locked outside the house. It’s alleged he made threats of violence and banged on the door while holding the knife.

Officers arrived within minutes of the call and arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of assault, possession of a bladed article, affray and threats to kill in connection with the incident.

A knife was also recovered from the scene.

Inspector Simon Riley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers did a brilliant job to quickly arrive at this incident and make an arrest as part of their initial enquiries.

“Nottinghamshire Police takes reports of knife crime very seriously and will always look to take appropriate action against offenders.

“Thankfully no-one was seriously injured in this incident but whenever there is a knife involved, there is always the potential for far more serious consequences.

“I’d now appeal for anyone who may have seen something suspicious at the time of this incident to get in touch with police as soon as possible on 101, quoting incident number 475 of 1 June 2021, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
