Boy left with fractured cheek bone and nose in ‘sustained attack’

A teenage boy was punched in the face in a sustained attack which left him with a broken nose and fractured cheek bone.

The boy was reportedly with friends on Jenny Becketts Lane in Mansfield when he was approached by the offender and attacked.

Police detective are now appealing for any information to help with their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant David Prest of Nottinghamshire Police is leading the investigation.

He said: “This was a vicious attack that left a person in hospital.

“The attack has left a boy requiring hospital treatment and while his injuries are not life-threatening, there is always the potential for far more serious consequences when violence is involved in any incident.

“We are now working hard to establish what happened and find those responsible for this.

“Our enquiries are at an early stage and we are conducting house-to-house enquiries and trawling through local CCTV footage.

“This incident took place at around 9.50pm last night (Friday 28 May). We are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to please get in touch with us, particularly if you took any photos or have mobile phone video footage. This could provide vital information.”
