Boys arrested after knifepoint robbery in Bulwell

Police investigating a report of a knifepoint robbery acted quickly to arrest two people in connection with the incident.

Officers were called to Station Road in Bulwell at around 11.50am yesterday (10 September) after a 13-year-old boy was reported to have had Apple Airpods and a gold chain stolen by two other boys.

It was believed that one of the suspects may have had a knife, however, no one was injured in the incident.

Two boys, both 17, were arrested by officers in a car in Cinderhill Road, Basford and a knife was recovered near the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Waldram, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Nottinghamshire Police takes knife crime very seriously and we will always look to take appropriate action against those who commit such offences.

“Officers were quick to arrive at the scene, recover a knife and arrest two suspects in connection with the report.

“The two boys have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

“Detectives now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch as soon as possible.”

The latest national statistics show that Nottinghamshire saw a 13% reduction in knife crime when compared to the previous year.

The reduction is a result of sustained and tactical proactive engagement with local communities in order to prevent knife crime, coupled with investment into the force’s Knife Crime Team and Robbery Team, who focus on tackling weapon-enabled violence.

Schools and Early Intervention Officers have also been working hard in secondary schools across Nottinghamshire to drive home the prevention message over the last three academic years – prior to schools closing due to Coronavirus – and further PCC investment has gone into launching the Dare 25 programme in primary schools, which includes bespoke education on knife crime.

If you have any information that could aid detectives in their investigation, please do not hesitate to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 286 of 10 September 2020.
