The new skatepark at Pasture Road, Stapleford, is making rapid progress.
The team from Canvas – Skateparks and Public Spaces have completed most of the ground works and are now working hard on the main features and steelwork, you can really see the skatepark starting to take shape.

Depending on weather conditions, the skatepark should be complete before the end of the year. We will announce the date for the handover to Broxtowe Borough Council, ribbon cutting and free taster coaching sessions for local young people very soon.

A spokesperson said:
‘We’re stoked to be so close to seeing a new skatepark open in Stapleford, following the closure of the well-used facility at Hickings Lane in 2022, with this new skatepark opening shortly after the Stapleford Community Pavilion, part of the wider regeneration of the town.
‘Before the skatepark is completed, the team at Canvas will work with Skate Nottingham and Broxtowe Borough Council to provide work experience opportunities with their build and design teams for a local skater, to help them explore opportunities for potential career changes linked to skatepark design, construction and wider built environment professions.
‘Broxtowe Borough Council have also worked closely with Canvas to respond to the wishes and concerns of local residents around the placement of a footpath running parallel to the skatepark and location of access routes to the skatepark and nearby play area.

‘Broxtowe Borough Council will then support a larger public opening event with more coaching skateboard sessions and a jam for all wheeled sports in spring 2026, followed by a full year of coached sessions, women-only sessions and creative workshops.
‘This has all been made possible by a grant from the FCC Communities Foundation alongside support from the Stapleford Towns Fund and the donations of 202 people to the Stapleford Skatepark Crowdfunder campaign, which was match-funded by Sport England.’
