The section will be closed from Friday May 17 to Monday May 20, for the demolition of Meadow Lane footbridge which links Chaddesden to the Wyvern and Pride Park.
The closure from Pentagon Island to the Raynesway junction will be in place from 8pm on Friday until 6am on Monday and affect both carriageways. Signed diversion routes will be in place.
There will be no access either to or from The Wyvern Shopping Complex or Costco via the A52, during the closure.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use the Highfield Lane footbridge to cross the A52.
As part of the A52 improvement project we’re replacing the Meadow Lane footbridge, linking Chaddesden to the Wyvern and Pride Park.
Derby City Council said:
‘To prepare for demolition, the current bridge will close to the public on Monday 29th April, and the demolition will take place over the weekend of Friday 17th May.
‘A full road closure will be in place on the A52 between Pentagon Island and the Raynesway junction, in both directions between 8.00pm on Friday 17th May and 6.00am Monday 20th May. Signed diversion routes will be in place.
‘Due to the limited time the A52 can be closed, work will be carried out around the clock. During this time, there will be noise as a result of the work. Unfortunately, this is completely unavoidable, however where possible we are looking at ways to reduce this.
‘Pedestrians will need to use the Highfield Lane footbridge to cross the A52, and again, a full diversion route will be in place.
‘It is anticipated that the new footbridge will open in Spring 2020.
‘Improving the A52 will bring great benefits to a congested part of Derby’s roads; including better access to the city, improved air quality and a boost for our economy.
‘We thank you for your patience while we carry out the work.’
