The Accenture British Triathlon Mixed Relay Cup Nottingham features top British and international elite triathletes racing around Victoria Embankment and Trent Bridge on Saturday 2 September in this dynamic and exciting format of the sport.
The day promises to be fun for all the family with a great balance of competitive action and sports activities and exhibitors for the public to come down and enjoy.
An expected crowd of 20,000 spectators and a live BBC One television audience will follow the action as up to 17 elite race teams (13 British and 4 international) battle to become the event’s inaugural champions.
Visitors can not only cheer on the athletes (amateur and professional) from one of the many free viewing areas up and down the course, they can also take part in the Parklives Sports Zone in the Spectator Village with lots of free sports and activities to try from 9am including archery, badminton, cricket, golf, netball, skateboarding, table tennis, tennis and more. Those who complete more than one sport and collect stamps can claim a Parklives medal for taking part.
The Spectator Village is central to the action, hosting a big screen to enable spectators to watch their friends and family cross the finish line in the City of Nottingham Triathlon and an area to sit back and enjoy the elite action when the Accenture British Triathlon Mixed Relay Cup 2017 Nottingham begins. There is also a bike park for the event with an opportunity to get advice on maintenance and repairs.
The spectator village also contains an expo area with shopping opportunities and new products to try, hosting a range of companies and exhibitors including sportswear companies, sponsors, suncare products and events such as the City’s Dinosaurs of China, and the Glasgow 2018 European Championships will be represented.
There will also be chances to meet and grab a snap with Nottingham’s most famous outlaw – Robin Hood. Robin will be around the course all day and will be testing his sports skills in the Parklives Sports Zone. He is always open to challenges.
Cllr Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure said: “There will be fun activities and events all through the day so that the public can come down and soak up the atmosphere, watch the action and cheer on the athletes (amateur and professional) from one of the many free viewing areas up and down the course.
