Burglar flees empty-handed after damaging ceiling entering Nottingham shop

It was reported a suspect has entered through the roof of the property and set off the alarm, which scared them off and left empty handed.

A Sherwood shop’s ceiling was damaged by a burglar in the early hours this morning.

The force was called at around 3am on 12 November following a report of a burglary at a business in Mansfield Road in Sherwood.

It was reported a suspect has entered through the roof of the property and set off the alarm, which scared them off and left empty handed.

Police Sergeant Adam Brown is leading the investigation. He said: “We believe a person has gone through the vents in the ceiling and climbed through from the outside of the roof.

“The offender has climbed onto a metal table in the bakery and set the alarm off, which has scared them and they left having taking nothing.

“We are now appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to get in touch by calling 101.

“Burglaries are hugely damaging for local businesses, especially at this difficult time, so hopefully we can track down the offender.”
