Burglar steals WD40 and a bank card

A noisy burglar who woke up a husband and wife sleeping upstairs was quickly arrested in the early hours this morning, as he tried to steal, power tools,  a can of WD40 and a bank card.

The intruder allegedly had the victim’s belongings in his possession when he was detained.

After hearing a disturbance downstairs, the husband confronted the man in his kitchen and then asked for his wife to ring the police.

Detective Sergeant Andy Hall is leading the investigation. He said: “Officers attended a house in Hibbert Road in Mansfield at around 2am this morning following a report of a burglary.

“They were quickly on the scene to arrest a 37-year-old man on suspicion of burglary. He remains in police custody.

“Burglary is an incredibly upsetting crime and can be terrifying for victims, especially if it is also accompanied by violence.

“We take incidents such as this one extremely seriously and will continue to work hard to tackle burglary.”
