Two arrests after attempted burglary incident in Forest Town

The 29-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Officers quickly arrested two men aged 28 and 29 in connection with an attempted aggravated burglary yesterday.

It was reported that two men were using weapons to try and force entry to a house on Newton Street at around 4.45 pm on Friday.

The 29-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Detective Sergeant Lauren Morgan is leading the investigation. She said: “Officers were quickly on the scene and worked quickly to track down the vehicle linked to the incident.

“Thankfully no entry was made and no one was injured, although damage was caused to the property, with the two men reportedly shouting and abusing the victim inside, whilst kicking the door frame.

“Both suspects left in a vehicle, which was located on Second Avenue. They remain in police custody.”
