Calls for improvements to ‘not fit for purpose’ M1 Junction 28

The queueing problem isn't just at rush hour, footage shows even during mid-afternoon the problem still persists.

Motorists on M1 approaching Junction 28 for Mansfield A38 are faced with long queues at most times of the day as traffic tries to join or leave the motorway.

The queues cause waiting traffic at all the feeder roads and exits at the roundabout.

The problem isn’t just at rush hour, footage shows even during mid-afternoon the problem still persists.

Mark Fletcher, Conservative MP for Bolsover says National Highways ( formerly Highways England ) are ‘aware of the problem and are working on a redesign.’

Costs to improve the junction with extra slip roads is in the region of £15-20million.
