Nottingham City Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Sally Longford talks about the need for more financial support for local businesses affected by the tiered lockdown measures.
Cllr Logford said:
‘Covid infection rates in Nottingham have been falling gradually over the last few days but they remain very high. We all need to continue to observe Hands, Face, Space and the Rule of Six, as well as not mixing indoors with anyone not from our household or support bubble to stop the spread of the virus and avoid putting pressure on the NHS.
‘Although the restrictions are vitally important, we’re really concerned about the impact on local businesses, particularly in the hospitality industry.
‘We’ve written to Chancellor Rishi Sunak calling for more financial support to be provided urgently by the Government to protect livelihoods and jobs in the city.
‘Others have too including the Nottingham Hospitality Association and the Director of Castle Rock Brewery who, as highlighted by Nottingham South MP Lilian Greenwood in the House of Commons today, fears the company is on the verge of breakdown.’
