Cannabis found in a laundry bag in Nottingham

Two suspects were arrested after officers uncovered two laundry bags full of cannabis.

During a routine patrol in Hyson Green on Monday (21 July), members of the Knife Crime Team saw two men loaded with suspicious-looking packages approach a car parked on Berridge Road West.

Once officers were spotted by the pair, one of the suspects quickly headed inside a property and locked the door.

The other suspect was searched and found to be in possession of a large quantity of bank notes and a mobile phone.

Two laundry bags full of what was suspected to be cannabis were then discovered inside the property, along with cocaine, more mobile phones and sim cards.

Two 21-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of possession with the intent to supply the Class B drug cannabis and possession of the Class A drug cocaine.

Sergeant Matt Daley, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Knife Crime Team, said:

“This incident was the result of excellent work by one of our patrols and has taken a substantial amount of drugs off the street.

“Whilst out on our patrols, we are, of course, hoping to identify knife-carriers, but weapons are often associated with drug dealing which is exactly why we target potential dealers.”
