Police made a quick arrest after a car crashed into Nottingham’s Guildhall building in the early hours of the morning.
A white Volkswagen Polo ploughed into the corner of the listed building, at the junction of South Sherwood Street and Burton Street, shortly before 4 am on Tuesday (2 December).
The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, before mounting a kerb and colliding with the property.

Melvin Mugambe, aged 20, of Church Street, Old Lenton, Nottingham, has been charged with driving while over the limit for alcohol and dangerous driving.
He was bailed and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 18 December.
Inspector Paul Gummer, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Thankfully, nobody sustained any injuries in this incident, but that was purely down to luck.
“There is absolutely no excuse for anyone to ever get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol, for the simple reason that it puts people at risk.
“Drink-driving can cost lives and we will always take robust action against anyone found to have committed such an offence.”
