The incident was reported at the weekend.
Derbyshire Police said:
‘M1. Driver of this Mondeo spotted by member of the public swigging from a can of lager at the wheel.
‘Intercepted and blows under the drink drive limit but would you be surprised to learn he has no driving licence or insurance?’
