Car thieves chased after using multiple car keys in Nottingham

Three suspected car thieves were chased down and arrested after they were spotted loitering on people’s driveways.

Officers in an unmarked police car rushed to Western Boulevard, Basford, at around 1.40am on Monday morning 22 August when a concerned resident dialled 999.

Three suspects fled from the scene. Two were detained within moments and a third was snared after falling from an e-scooter.

Multiple car keys were recovered from the scene.

Two men, aged 32 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of attempted theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped to steal.

A 17-year-old boy was also detained on suspicion of the same offences.

All remain in police custody.

Sergeant Danielle Richardson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a great bit of work by officers who responded promptly to residents’ concerns.

“We treat all reports of vehicle thefts and burglaries with the utmost seriousness and urge everyone to report this kind of suspicious behaviour to us as soon as possible.”
