Nottingham’s Carluccio’s Italian restaurant has announced a closing date after seven years of operating on Low Pavement.
West Bridgford is unaffected and earmarked for a refurbishment.
The Nottingham restaurant will close on 16th December.
The chain has 103 restaurants across the UK but is planning to close 30 loss-making stores.
Carluccio’s profits have fallen drastically over the last two years due to rising costs – in 2016 the chain’s pre-tax profits fell by 81 per cent.
The group of around 30 restaurants marked for possible closure had their rent bills cut by a third for six months under a rescue plan.
Under the rescue plan, Carluccio’s majority owner, Landmark Group put £10million into the remaining restaurants to upgrade the franchise.
The Dubai-based Landmark Group bought the Italian chain, founded by chef Antonio Carluccio, for £90million in 2010.
