Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to following a shop theft.
Officers were called following reports that a man picked up a jar of coffee and hid it in his jacket.
After being challenged by a member of staff in Co-op, in Lincoln Road, Newark, he allegedly became aggressive before leaving the store and failing to pay.
Officers investigating the incident, which happened at around 4.55pm on Friday 21 January 2022, are now appealing for information and asking anyone who recognises the man in the picture to get in touch.
Police Constable Anthea Brotheridge, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are asking anyone who recognises the man pictured in this image to get in touch with us immediately. We believe he may have important information which could help with our enquiries.
“There is absolutely no place for incidents of theft and aggression like this in our society and we are determined to ensure that anyone who commits these types of crimes is held accountable for their actions.”
Anyone who recognises the man, witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 544 of 21 January 2022.
