City car stop reveals suspected Class A drugs and cash

Police recovered cash and suspected Class A drugs after a pulling over a driver to check his insurance details.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police’s city knife crime team spotted the vehicle in Talbot Street, Nottingham city centre, at around 10.50am on Thursday.

A roadside search then revealed a quantity of drugs, cash and a mobile phone.

Further searches of the car and a local address revealed further drugs, cash and other materials.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply. He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and was remanded into custody.

He is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on October 28 and remains in police custody.

Detective Constable Bethanie Foster, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Drug related offences are treated with the utmost seriousness by Nottinghamshire Police and we are working hard every day to prevent the transit of illegal substances on our roads.”
