Community comes together for 9th Annual Keyworth Christmas Day lunch

On Christmas Day, 21 volunteers came together to support the Keyworth Community Christmas Day Lunch, marking the event’s ninth year.  by Keyworth Community Projects, the annual lunch is held to support people who may be facing loneliness on Christmas Day.

The event truly reflects the whole community coming together. The Parish Council kindly allowed the entire building to be used free of charge, while local community members donated mince pies and gifts. Community groups also kindly donated money to help keep the cost of the event low, ensuring it was affordable for everyone attending.

Guest were treated to a delicious three-course meal prepared by the amazing Chef Adam Bateman, with menu choices available including a vegetarian option.

“Christmas Day Lunch is all about combating loneliness,” said Shelley Millband, Chair of Keyworth Community Projects. “Volunteering on the day and being part of the team helps too.”

The day began at 11.30am, with guests arriving on the Community Bus. They were warmly welcomed with a drink and friendly faces. The event continued through the afternoon and lasted until after the King’s Speech, which everyone sat together to listen to on the radio.
