Consultation launched on cycleway on Regatta Way to link Adbolton Lane to Radcliffe Road

Earlier in the year government announced funding to help deliver its plans to boost greener, active transport.

The Department for Transport has allocated £2.18m of this funding towards the proposals included in Nottinghamshire County Council’s Active Travel Fund Tranche 2 bid.

This funding is part of the Government’s Covid plans to make walking and cycling safe during the pandemic.

Councillor John Cottee, Chairman of the Communities and Place committee at Nottinghamshire County Council said: “Embedding walking and cycling into people’s daily lives for leisure or work will help achieve a number of our council objectives including health, the environment, and reducing journey time delay. In addition, the proposals will help to avoid overcrowding on public transport as the economy restarts.

“We are pleased to receive the funding, but it does not cover all the schemes we had hoped to deliver as part of this work.

“As a result, we are currently asking residents for views on proposals located on the A6191 Chesterfield Road South in Mansfield, Dovecote Lane in Beeston, Randall Way in Retford and Regatta Way in West Bridgford.

“The proposed schemes will complement the work the County Council already delivers and improve, or link to, existing cycling facilities in each of the areas.

“For further information and to participate in the online consultation please visit www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/active-travel-fund.

The consultation will run until Sunday 7 March.”

The schemes being consulted on all tie-in to current programmes the Council already delivers to help people access local jobs, training, shops and services through the provision of new crossings, cycleway and footway improvements, and dropped kerbs. These have included recent improvements upgrading several cycle routes in Mansfield, Mapperley, Newark and West Bridgford which form just part of 559miles of cycleways across the county.
