New traffic restrictions have been announced around the A52 Wheatcroft junction as utility diversion work begins ahead of the major Nottingham Knight and Wheatcroft improvement scheme.
From Tuesday 1 September until Friday 30 October, a contraflow will operate on the A606 Melton Road at Tollerton, near its roundabout with the A52.
Temporary two-way traffic lights will also be used at the same location from Monday 21 September to Friday 25 September and again from Monday 12 October to Friday 16 October.
A lane closure will be in place on the A606 Melton Road at Edwalton, near the A52 roundabout, from Tuesday 1 September until Friday 30 October.
On Flawforth Lane in Ruddington, temporary two-way traffic lights will operate approximately 65 metres south of the A52 junction between 8am and 5pm on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 September.
National Highways said all the restrictions listed in the latest bulletin would operate on weekdays only.
The work involves diverting utilities to enable the wider reconstruction of the Wheatcroft junction. Drivers should allow additional time when travelling between West Bridgford, Edwalton, Tollerton, Ruddington and the A52.
Separate overnight closures and restrictions are due to begin around Wheatcroft from Monday 7 September, with utility and telecommunications work expected to continue for around three months.
Utility work at Nottingham Knight is scheduled to begin in November and last for four months. During the wider programme, lane closures and a temporary 40mph speed limit will be used along sections of the A52.
The Nottingham Knight and Wheatcroft roundabouts will eventually be enlarged and redesigned with new routes through the centre of the islands, allowing A52 traffic to avoid circulating around the full roundabouts.
New traffic signals, crossings and improvements for pedestrians and cyclists also form part of the National Highways scheme.
The main construction programme is expected to begin in early 2027 and continue until spring 2029.
