A controlled explosion has been carried out today (Friday 1 May 2020) following a report of suspected World War II ammunition found in private woodland in Cotgrave.
Police were made aware of the discovery, off Laming Gap Lane, just after 6pm yesterday (Thursday 30 April 2020). It was reported that the items found appeared to be hand grenades.
As a precaution, Nottinghamshire Police requested the assistance of the Joint Services Explosive Ordinance Disposal Engineers and a cordon was put in place.
Bomb disposal experts carried out a successful controlled explosion at around 11.20am. No evacuations took place.
