Council pays all £150 council tax rebates three months ahead of deadline

All residents in Rushcliffe eligible for central government council tax rebate repayments have now received the vital funding, nearly three months ahead of deadline.

Rushcliffe Borough Council has quickly administered the £150 payments with over £5.5m now distributed to residents eligible for the rebate.

It includes nearly 37,000 households in bands A to D with the majority receiving them direct to their bank account through which payments are made.

Further discretionary payments are also being made to eligible residents from the authority’s Revenues team.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Finance and Customer Access Cllr Gordon Moore said: “Our Revenues, Finance and Customer Services and other teams have worked tirelessly in recent months to ensure all households eligible for their central government £150 rebate have received it.

“Linked to the cost of living crisis in what we appreciate are such difficult financial times for residents, our staff knew how important it was to reach out quickly with the payments.

“It is testament to their speed and accuracy, they have completed this nearly three months ahead of the government’s deadline.

“It saw them initially work quickly with software suppliers in the days after the announcement to ensure Rushcliffe residents were among the first nationally to receive the payments and their drive and determination has continued to deliver them so effectively.”
