Nottinghamshire County Council Chairman Councillor John Handley will be visiting Heymann Primary and Nursery School this week.
He is visiting the school in Waddington Drive, West Bridgford, on Friday, to have a tour of the school and to have lunch, along with Councillor Gordon Wheeler.
Every day, the county council’s school meals team feeds 48,000 children across the county with locally sourced food. The visit will see both the Chairman and Coun Wheeler enjoy school dinner with the pupils in the dining hall.
Amanda Nash, Assistant Head Teacher, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming the Chairman and Councillor Wheeler to the school to look around and to have dinner. Earlier this year our School Council visited Nottinghamshire County Council and this is our way of saying thank you.”
During the visit to County Hall earlier this year hosted by Coun Handley, around a dozen members of the School’s Council took part in a meeting in the Council Chamber to find out how local democracy works, had dinner and met Members.
Elsewhere next week, the Chairman is hosting Brinsley Primary School’s Council today (MON) at midday for a visit to learn more about the local authority. The Chairman will also be attending a performance of Sleeping Beauty at the Palace Theatre, in Mansfield on Wednesday.
