Nottinghamshire County Council has issued statements for its employees.
Chief Executive Anthony May said:
“I can reassure everyone that Nottinghamshire County Council and County Hall remains open for business. The situation with the COVID-19 is developing quickly and it is important to keep local residents and staff updated. We are following Government and public health guidance and planning to maintain our frontline services, upon which so many people rely.
“I have written to all our dedicated and skilled staff, advising them of things they can do to help keep services running during this challenging time. For example, office-based colleagues have been advised to work from home where possible as a precautionary measure. In this modern age, that is a reasonable and feasible step because our staff have access to mobile and flexible technology, and many already work from home. Senior officers and Councillors are working closely together on this to help minimise the disruption to services and the situation is under constant review.
“The guidance I have given to our staff is part of our normal business contingency planning and to make sure we have taken all sensible steps to minimise any risk to our workforce and local people. We continue to deliver essential front-line services and will work with Public Health England to respond to the developing situation to do all we can to help delay the spread of COVID-19. There are currently no confirmed cases of the virus amongst our workforce.”
Leader of the County Council, Kay Cutts MBE said:
“I am supportive of these measures. It is important that we keep services open and by taking sensible precautions, in line with Government advice, that’s what we shall continue to do. The Chief Executive and I work together on all important decisions and I am satisfied that his guidance to staff is reasonable and appropriate.
