Covid latest: New figures show 51 deaths in one week across Nottinghamshire

All three trusts are included in the figures – Nottingham University Hospitals, Sherwood Forest NHS Foundation Trust and Bassetlaw and Doncaster NHS Trust.

New figures released today show that 51 people have died with the virus in one week in the county.

The reported period is week to 8th November and is an decrease on the 56 deaths reported for the previous week, for comparison, the whole of July and August saw just two deaths.

All three trusts are included in the figures – Nottingham University Hospitals, Sherwood Forest NHS Foundation Trust and Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust.

Dr Andy Haynes, Executive Lead, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System, said:

“We are still seeing a rise in the number of deaths within our hospitals, which is a stark reminder of why we are in a national lockdown. I would urge the public to continue to take the measures seriously so that we can continue to reduce the infection rate within the community and, in turn, in our hospitals.

“We have been planning for a potential Covid-19 vaccine for several months now and as those plans continue to be refined, and as we wait for a confirmed vaccine, it’s really important that everyone continues to stick to the rules as they are the only way to keep us all safe”

There was a Public Health Directors’ press briefing held today – see below for notes from the discussions:
