Jonathan Gribbin, Director of Public Health for Nottingham county and Alison Challenger, Director of Public Health for Nottingham city updates on Tier 3 review for the area.
A Government review is expected on 16 December to decide the Tier level for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
The reduction in cases among older people has not been strong enough across the county, said Jonathan Gribbin, Director of Public Health for Nottingham county. He said that although there are good signs, lots of criteria will be analysed by Government before a decision is made.’
Alison Challenger said:
‘There have been consistent reductions across the city thank you to everybody
‘Infection rates are slowing – the downward trajectory is slowing among over-60s – but it is levelling off and not a quick enough reduction yet – I’m hugely optimistic but cases need to drop faster…
‘We have to maintain the gains that we have achieved – to see further reductions
“There have been consistent reductions across the city thank you to everybody
‘There will be a different range of indicators and measures that the Government will look at before making decisions, like hospital pressures, new infections and others, they will seek out views of local health and local authority leaders too.
‘Discussions are ongoing now and we expect decisions on this next week in time for 16 December, we can’t predict what will happen – again though we have seen improvements, there is still pressure on the local NHS, but it is encouraging that rates are decreasing.’
