Covid: Nottinghamshire hospitals see 100 deaths in a week but admissions reduce by 27%

Amanda Sullivan representing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG gave a Covid update at this morning’s media briefing.

Amanda said: “Hospital admission rates are starting to reduce – but there were still 342 admissions in week to 31 January – compared to 467 previous week.

‘There are currently 668 people in hospitals at 2 February v 749 on 26 January.

These figures are still high, around 10% of those patients are on mechanical ventilators.

‘There are still high rates of deaths – week to 3 February there were 100 deaths across Nottinghamshire hospitals, up from 92 the precious week.

‘Vaccinations – We are on target for a completion date of 14 February for top the four cohorts.’

‘We’ve carried out 128,000 vaccines this week. 

Alison Challenger, Director of Public Health for Nottingham city added that some people still have not come forward for vaccinations yet – in the over-80s age group. We encourage them to do so and are trying to reach as many people as we can.’
