8:02 am – CLEARED: All lines have now reopened between Birmingham New Street – Wolverhampton so services can start to run as booked.
Delays and/or cancellations may still occur due to crew and unit displacement.
Cross Country Trains said at 6:48 am on 27 December:
‘Due to engineering works not being finished on time near Wakefield Westgate, all lines are currently blocked.
‘Diversionary routes are unavailable so services will be delayed/cancelled until further notice.
‘Due to engineering works not being finished on time between Birmingham New Street – Wolverhampton, all lines are currently blocked.
‘Diversionary routes are unavailable so services will be suspended between Birmingham New Street – Manchester Piccadilly until further notice.’
