Death Café comes to West Bridgford in 2020

Julie Barnes, Janice Dent and Mo Elliott are hosting a new Death Café in Abbey Road, West Bridgford, in partnership with Tiffin Teahouse.

PUBLISHED:

What does death and dying mean to you? What is a death café?

Talking about death and dying is not easy and we often find we have nowhere to talk about our fears, our questions and our wishes. A Death Café is a place where people, often strangers, gather to talk about any aspect of death and dying over a cup of tea and cake. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

Living and working locally, they are committed to creating opportunities for people to talk about death in a comfortable and open environment. The Death Café model is well established and exists ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’.

There is no fixed agenda or theme; people talk together about any aspect of death that interests or concerns them. The hosts welcome and encourage everyone to participate, to speak and to listen.

There are no experts, just people coming together to talk about something that affects us all but is too often unmentionable. By talking openly, we hope that death becomes easier to speak about, to contemplate and to face in our lives.

Please join us at the Abbey Road Death Café for the conversations you want to have about death and dying. Free of charge. Drinks and cake available to purchase. Further details at www.deathcafe.com
